We welcome everyone to join in the events we're planning for the pre-Easter period and then especially for the joyous celebration on Easter Sunday.
Palm Sunday - April 13th
The Palm Sunday service was wonderful--an exuberant procession with palms and singing, music of the season and music from "Godspell," and a moving lay re-enactment of the entry into Jerusalem and the appearance before Pilate.
Yoga and the Labyrinth - Monday, April 14th
Two ancient spiritual practices brought together for a time of reflection.
Maundy Thursday - Tenebrae - April 17th
Soup and bread meal at 6:30 p.m., Fellowship Hall Tenebrae Service at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. Tenebrae is one of the Christian church's oldest traditions for observing Holy Week. Thirteen candles are lit and thirteen participants read. As the passion story unfolds, the candles are extinguished one by one until a single candle remains burning. That thirteenth candle is carried from the room for three minutes to symbolize the time in the tomb. But, like God's steadfast love, the light returns in glad anticipation of Easter morning.
Good Friday - April 18th - Labyrinth Walk with Stations of the Cross
The Labyrinth with Stations of the Cross
The Labyrinth will be open from noon until 6:00 p.m. The Labyrinth experience of the Stations of the Cross integrates a sensory and symbolic experience of the Passion of Christ.
