I'm so looking forward to seeing you this Sunday. Our theme is "to welcome one another." We will explore together the ways we welcome and provide hospitality here at MHCC and how our warm welcome at MHCC gets carried into the world.
The poet Mary Oliver writes,
.......what I want in my life
is to be willing
to be dazzled -
to cast aside the weight of facts
and maybe even
to float a little
above this difficult world.
I want to believe I am looking
into the white fire of a great mystery.
I want to believe that the imperfections are nothing -
that the light is everything........And I do.
In my own life, I've found that when I've welcomed in the unexpected--whether that be person, place or experience--I just might experience what Mary Oliver calls "the white fire of a great mystery." One of the enduring themes of the Bible is to welcome the stranger. How about you? When have you welcomed a stranger and been surprised, dazzled even, by what you discovered?
