We have a race problem in this country. We have a gun problem as well. We might feel removed from these events, sheltered as we are in Melrose. Yet, we all are connected and each murder is a mark, a wound on the soul of our nation. We can pray, we need to pray but we also need to act.
This Sunday our worship is filled with quadruple blessings. It is Father's Day, the the first day of summer, our blessing of the animals, and we baptize four babies during worship. Worship will take place outside in the garden by the Peace Pole. If it rains, we will move inside. At the close of worship, we will bless the animals. Details of the day are below. The following Sunday, June 28th will be held in our sanctuary. We will worship together and sing hymns of your choosing. After worship is our end-of-the-year BBQ. Please see below for more information.
At the Highlands, we take summer seriously and have a Sabbath break all summer long. We join with other Protestant churches in Melrose for worship and meet at a different church each week. For the schedule, please see the Union Service schedule below. Our office is closed in the summer but phone and email messages will be checked. Barbara will be in periodically to pay the bills. My hours vary in the summer with time off for vacation and study. Should you desire to meet with me, please contact me and we will set up a time at your convenience. I will be having drop-in hours, on the Wednesdays I am not on vacation, at LaQ from 4-6 P.M. Stop by for some iced tea or coffee. When I am on vacation, a pastor is on call for emergencies. Please call the office or Deacon Paul Lind should an emergency occur.
Our Welcome Back Sunday is September 13! Our choirs return, Sunday School starts up and we welcome you all back for a time of worship and celebration. In the days in between, enjoy the break of summer and the beauty of God's good creation.
Blessings, Beth
