This is also for many the beginning of summer as you head to summer homes to open them. We New Englanders know how to enjoy these golden days for our summers are short and precious. Enjoy!

Happy Memorial Day! As you remember loved ones this weekend, may you find them with you in many ways. Memorial Day began after the Civil War as families and communities began to decorate the graves of those soldiers who had given their lives in service to their country. It began spontaneously in several parts of the country at once, rooted in an age-old desire to give thanks and honor to those who have given the ultimate sacrifice. One of the stories told is of a group of Southern women who, after decorating the graves of the fallen Confederate soldiers, realized there was an unmarked grave for the many Union soldiers who died on the same battlefield. Those women tidied up the grave and decorated it as well, perhaps beginning a healing process. Forgiveness often begins with one simple generous action.
This is also for many the beginning of summer as you head to summer homes to open them. We New Englanders know how to enjoy these golden days for our summers are short and precious. Enjoy! Blessings, Beth
