Middle School Dances
For more than 40 years, Melrose Highlands Congregational Church has filled a need in our community by providing middle school students a fun and safe environment to socialize with each other on a monthly basis throughout the school year. The dances are quite popular and attract hundreds of 6th through 8th grade students.
While fun is certainly the goal of the dance, the students’ safety is our utmost concern. To that end, we have two police officers on duty at each dance. In addition, we generally have approximately 10-12 additional chaperones monitoring the dance floor, hallways, and bathrooms as well as supervising refreshments. Parents are invited and encouraged to chaperone the events.
The dance rules are provided for downloading at the bottom left of this page. When a student disobeys the rules or acts in a way that could compromise the safety of others, the student will face consequences, which can include expulsion from the dance, and in some cases suspension from future dances. As needed, additional police may be called in.

The Melrose Highlands Congregational Church is proud to be known as "The Dance Church" and we are equally glad for our commitment to the youth of Melrose. Not only do we sponsor the dances, but we also have very active middle and senior high youth groups that are open to teens from the community. We welcome your emails if you would like to learn more about the dances or MHCC’s youth groups.
